The i'm Initiative
Jul. 30th, 2009 11:06 pmWhile I was trying to get things organized and put together for this journal, I came across this cool idea from Microsoft called "The i'm Initiative". Every time you use Windows Live⢠Messenger or Windows Live Hotmail®, Microsoft will share a portion of the advertising revenue with the cause you choose from among the partner social cause organizations. The more messages and emails you send, the more they give.
Now the small things you do every day, like e-mailing and IMing, can make a big difference. If you don't already have a hotmail.com or live.com email address or a Live Messenger account, go sign up for one and start using it! If you do already have one of these accounts and are not part of "The i'm Initiative", go to your options page and click the link for "i'm making a difference".
Choose from the following charities:
American Red Cross - helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
National AIDS Fund - using education and prevention to combat HIV/AIDS.
ninemillion.org - a UN refugee agency campaign to provide education and sports for refugee children.
Sierra Club - protecting wildlife and wild lands, and preserving the health of the planet.
stopglobalwarming.org - encouraging governments and corporations to stop global warming.
Boys and Girls Clubs of America - helping youth develop into productive, caring, and responsible citizens.
The Humane Society of the United States - the nation's largest and most effective animal protection organization.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society - addressing the challenges of each person impacted by MS.
Unicef - doing whatever it takes to save children's lives
Susan G. Komen for the Cure - global leader in the fight against breast cancer.
